On Good Friday 15th April, MedEquip4Kids launched their 7th annual duck race at the Helly Hansen Watersports Centre, in Salford Quays, Manchester. The event was attended by hundreds of people who flocked to see the yellow rubber ducks take on the event.
With 701 ducklings taking part in the Community Race, and 30 Mega Ducks taking part in the Business Race it was our most successful duck race to date raising £10,000 for our projects.
Ghazala Baig, CEO of MedEquip4Kids said “Wow! I’m blown away by the support we have received this year. After postponing the duck race for two years because of the COVID19 pandemic it feels so good to be back at the Quays. We’re hoping to build on this success next year to grow our event, watch this space!”

A big thank you must go to our corporate supporters without whom this event would not have been possible. Each company committed to sponsoring a duck for £250, which they could dress up, brand and design to represent their company in the race. It was a great year for creativity with ducks dressed as the Cheshire Cat (The Cheshire Quack), Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic the HedgeDuck), and even Freddy Mercury (The Bohemian Quacksody).
Lucky winners
There were winners a plenty at the Duck Race with BBK Partnership Barnet winning ‘fastest duck’ in the corporate duck race, and The Doctors Laboratory (pictured below) picked up the award for ‘best dressed duck’ with their duck, The Quacken.
Winners from the community race were gifted tickets to The Lowry, a year’s supply of Irn Bru and a cocktail masterclass for four people at The Alchemist Salford Quays.
