It was a not so bright but early start for Hurst Accountants on Friday 24th of August and all the staff were geared up and ready for their community charity day. Coloured balloons and excited faces filled the office and some teams were already putting some elbow grease into the charity car wash in the car park and over at HMG Paints.

The hustle and bustle of activities on the day included a bake sale, a tombola, face paintings, superhero selfies and a fabulous raffle. One team dedicated themselves to a static bike ride, setting a distance challenge to see how many times they could lap the M60. Another team organised the sale of old mobile phones online in order to raise money too, which we thought was a fantastic idea! Each and every member of the company had a role to play on the day.

Everyone involved kept up fantastic morale throughout the whole day. They faced some of the worst weather we’ve seen this summer, with strong winds and sideways rain battering them! Hurst didn’t let this dampen their spirits and no amount of rain could wash away their energy and enthusiasm for supporting MedEquip4Kids. They were all spurred on knowing that the funds raised will purchase essential equipment and resources for children’s health in the Stockport area. With £5,000 raised on the day they can all give each other a massive pat on the back. A fantastic job well done.

“The switch adapted toys have been a wonderful addition to our school. Both staff and children were thrilled to have some new exciting resources. The children love the lights and movement many of these switch toys have and are highly motivated to explore and investigate how to make them work. They have been great for pupils to develop their understanding of cause and effect and we have also noticed improved concentration and engagement when using them. Often it can be difficult to find toys that are robust enough to withstand lots of heavy use AND be interesting and fun. These new resources tick all those boxes. They have made a noticeable impact on the children’s development in this area.”
