Brian White

We are pleased and proud to announce that MedEquip4Kids Chairman, Brian White, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2021 in recognition of his services to the community.

After a 27-year career as a chartered accountant partner at Deloitte LLP, Brian now works as a chartered tax adviser. He has been involved with MedEquip4Kids for over 25 years, and for the past 20 of those, he has headed the organisation as our Chairman. Brian is well-known and respected within Manchester’s business community and its Jewish community, and has contributed to numerous other local projects.

MedEquip4Kids Chief Executive, Ghazala Baig, says: “Brian brings such enthusiasm and tireless energy to everything he does. As a charity we have benefited enormously from his leadership, his personal qualities and his impressive network of contacts. I am delighted to hear that his achievements in the field of children’s healthcare have received formal acknowledgement.”

Brian says: “I am humbled and honoured to receive this award. It is a reflection on the great work carried out by MedEquip4Kids over the last 36 years, and a testimony to the equipment they have provided for hospitals and more recently, their mental health provision. I hope that this is the foundation for the charity to grow forward into the future.”

“The switch adapted toys have been a wonderful addition to our school. Both staff and children were thrilled to have some new exciting resources. The children love the lights and movement many of these switch toys have and are highly motivated to explore and investigate how to make them work. They have been great for pupils to develop their understanding of cause and effect and we have also noticed improved concentration and engagement when using them. Often it can be difficult to find toys that are robust enough to withstand lots of heavy use AND be interesting and fun. These new resources tick all those boxes. They have made a noticeable impact on the children’s development in this area.”
