Walk4Kids

In September 2009 MedEquip4Kids mascot Pip launched a new Walk4Kids event as part of the "Get Acitive with Pip" schools project .

Pip is asking primary schools to host their own Walk4Kids event in school to encourage the pupils to get active while raising much needed funds for MedEquip4Kids. 

The Walk4Kids can take place in the school hall, playground or on the school field and can take many forms, from fancy dress, adding obstacles, stations and circuits to walking sideways, skipping, hopping, jumping - the list is endless! Why not link the theme and distances to a country that is being studied in Geography at the moment?

Our Schools Presenters deliver a 20 minute age specific assembly to the children about the work of the charity and how keeping fit and active can set them well on the way to a long and healthy life.

All the children will then receive a donation form and envelope for their schools Walk4Kids event which they can take home to collect their donations from family and friends and return the money to school.

Two weeks later, the event will take place! The schools Presenter will return to school to support the children, collect and count the monies raised , leave rewards for the children and invite the press along to the school to record the event.

Hi there my name is Matthew Walker MBE and I represented Great Britain at the Paralympics in Beijing where I won 5 medals ( Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze) in the swimming pool.

I have also represented GB for 13 years in a variety of different competitions i.e. commonwealth games, World Champs and Europeans.

I train for a minimum of 20 hours per week which is a combination of both in the pool and in the gym, and I feel I am dedicated and have a passion to my sport.

It is great to be involved with MedEquip4kids and with their project of 'Get Active With Pip'
