Congleton - Suction Pump (085)
Congleton War Memorial Hospital in Staffordshire operate a Children’s Airway Support Team, supporting children with a range of health needs to continue their day-to-day lives supported by their medical team and families.
Children who need a tracheotomy (an airway inserted into the windpipe) need constant access to a suction pump to remove build-up of saliva. At present the PCT offers a large, mains powered machine to its patients, but newer, smaller models are now on the market which offer much more freedom and flexibility to children who need these machines.
We have pledged to provide a suction machine for use by children in Congleton. The new machine is more discreet, quieter and more compact than the machines the NHS currently offer. Being battery operated and portable makes it far more suitable for children, who may be attending main stream schools or play groups in the community.
The pump will cost £380.00 including a carry bag.
