Macclesfield - Armchairs (079)
We are currently working with the Children’s Unit at Macclesfield District General Hospital to provide armchairs to allow parents to sit in comfort next to their child’s bed when they need to nurse or comfort their child. At present the children’s ward has upright seating for parents and visitors next to the child’s bed. This is not very comfortable and is particularly impractical for mothers who are breastfeeding babies. It is also important for poorly or scared children to be able to be comforted by their parents and for smaller children who are in cots, it is important to be able to come out of the cot and sit with a parent or carer.
We have agreed to provide six armchairs. The chairs requested by the ward comply with health and safety, infection control and fire safety requirements.
Facilities such as this do not fit in to NHS statutory funding, and so without the support of charitable organisations, there is no possibility of being able to provide these beds. Each armchair costs £178.00, and six are required with a total cost of £1,068.00 UPDATE: These chairs have now been ordered
