Tandem Parachute Jump
If you want exhilaration, try a Tandem Parachute Jump on behalf of MedEquip4Kids. There is no thrill in the world that matches jumping out of an aeroplane and 5000 ft freefall is the biggest thrill of all.
Why a Tandem Parachute Jump? With a tandem parachute jump you are fastened to your own instructor which means you can jump from far higher than in conventional parachute jumps, 14,000 feet is usual although slightly higher is possible in good conditions. Jumping from this altitude means that you will be freefalling for over 5,000 feet when the instructor will release the parachute and you can help control the descent to a tip-toe landing.
When can I take part? Parachute Jumps take place most weekends between March and November. On application please state 2 preferred dates in order and we will check availability with the Parachute Centre.
Where is the Parachute Centre? The North West Parachute Centre is located at Cark Airport in Flookburgh, near Grange Over Sands. Please note that you are responsible for your own travel and need to arrive at the centre by 9.00am on the morning of your jump. Please note that all jumps are allocated on a first come first served basis so late arrivals should be prepared to wait.
On the day: For this type of jump the training required is minimal therefore on the day of your jump you need to simply get to the centre, do the required training (around 30 minutes) and jump!!
How much will it cost? To register, the cost is £50.00 (non-refundable) and we then ask you to raise a further £320.00 in sponsorship (£160.00 of which must be sent to MedEquip4Kids 2 weeks before the day your challenge).
What to wear: You should wear warm outdoor clothing and training shoes. During cold weather it is advisable to wear thin gloves for your descent.
Fitness: Eager parachutists should have a reasonably high standard of physical fitness and should not be overweight for their age, sex and height. Everyone taking part will need to sign a medical fitness declaration.
What restrictions are there? The centre cannot train anyone under 16 years of age (if under 18 you will need parent/guardian consent) Due to BPA standards you will need to obtain a doctors consent if you are over 39 years old. This can usually be done by telephoning your doctor.
Male:- Max height 6ft 4in, weight 14 st.
Female:- Max Weight 13 st.
Any medical or parental consent forms must be brought on the day. Please consult the Parachute Centre direct if you have any queries regarding this on 015395 58672.
